Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 4–5 medium jalapeños, seeded and finely diced
  • 6 strips bacon, cooked crispy and crumbled
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 cans (8 ounces each) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 24 candy eyeballs
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • Ranch dressing (for dipping, optional)
  • Blue cheese dressing (for dipping, optional)
  • Honey sriracha sauce (for dipping, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line your baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cook the bacon: Lay strips on a foil-lined baking sheet and bake at 400°F for 12-15 minutes until crispy. Let cool, then crumble.
  3. Prep the jalapeños: Cut each in half lengthwise, remove seeds and membranes, and dice into ¼-inch cubes.
  4. Make the filling: In a medium bowl, combine cream cheese, cheddar, diced jalapeños, crumbled bacon, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt. Mix until evenly distributed.
  5. Prepare the crescent dough: Unroll the dough and separate into triangles along perforations (8 per can, 16 total).
  6. Cut the dough strips: Cut each triangle lengthwise into 3-4 thin strips, leaving about 1 inch connected at the wide end.
  7. Fill the wraps: Place a heaping tablespoon of filling at the wide end of each triangle.
  8. Wrap the mummies: Starting at the wide end, fold the dough strips over the filling, alternating sides to create a crisscross mummy look. Leave a small gap at the top for the face.
  9. Add the eyes: Press two candy eyeballs gently into the exposed filling at the top.
  10. Brush with butter: Use a pastry brush to coat each mummy with melted butter.
  11. Bake: Place mummies on the prepared baking sheet, spacing 2 inches apart. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown and filling is bubbly.
  12. Cool slightly: Let rest on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Don’t overfill the wraps—use a heaping tablespoon per wrap. Room temperature cream cheese is crucial for even mixing. Wear gloves when handling jalapeños. For make-ahead, assemble up to 4 hours ahead and refrigerate unbaked; add 2-3 minutes to baking time. Can be frozen unbaked for up to a month; bake from frozen adding 5-7 minutes.
