These adorable Mummy Pigs in a Blanket are the ultimate Halloween party appetizer. Made with just three main ingredients, they are unbelievably easy to make in 20 minutes and guaranteed to be a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz) Refrigerated Crescent Roll Dough
  • 24 small Cocktail Smoked Sausages or Lit’l Smokies
  • 12 tablespoons Yellow Mustard
  • Optional: Everything Bagel Seasoning or Poppy Seeds
  • Optional: Cooking Spray or Parchment Paper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Open the can of crescent rolls. If using sheet-style dough, unroll and press perforations together to form one large rectangle. If using triangle-style, pinch seams together to form two rectangles.
  3. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the dough into long, thin strips about 1/4 to 1/2 inch wide. You should get about 24-30 strips.
  4. Take one cocktail sausage and one strip of dough. Start at one end of the sausage and wrap the dough strip around it, slightly overlapping as you go. Leave a small gap at the top for the ‘face.’ Place the wrapped mummy on the prepared baking sheet, seam-side down.
  5. Repeat with remaining sausages, placing them about 1 inch apart on the baking sheet.
  6. Dip a toothpick into the yellow mustard and dot two small eyes onto the exposed sausage face of each mummy.
  7. Place the baking sheet on the middle rack of the preheated oven. Bake for 10-13 minutes, or until the dough is puffed up and deep golden brown.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool on the pan for 2-3 minutes. Transfer to a serving platter or cooling rack. Serve warm with extra mustard, ketchup, or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Cold dough is easier to work with. If dough gets too warm, refrigerate for 5 minutes. Don’t overlap dough too much; leave gaps for the mummy look. Use a toothpick for perfect mustard eyes. Mummies can be assembled up to a day in advance and stored in the fridge. For freezing, assemble completely (with eyes), freeze solid, then store in a freezer bag. Add 3-5 minutes to baking time when baking from frozen.
