These Easy Mummy Pigs in a Blanket are a fun, festive Halloween snack made with just five ingredients in under 25 minutes. Crescent roll dough is wrapped around mini hot dogs like mummy bandages, then baked until golden and topped with cheese eyes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 12 mini hot dogs or cocktail sausages (such as Lil’ Smokies)
  • 12 small cheese dots for eyes (cheddar cheese slices cut with a straw)
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a clean cutting board. Pinch the seams together gently to create one large rectangle of dough.
  3. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice the rectangle lengthwise into 12 strips, each about ½-inch wide.
  4. If using regular hot dogs, cut each one into 3 equal pieces. Pat the hot dogs dry with a paper towel.
  5. Take one strip of dough and wrap it around a mini hot dog, starting at one end and spiraling toward the other. Leave a small gap near the top where the eyes will go. Don’t wrap too tightly.
  6. Place the wrapped mummies on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
  7. Beat the egg with 1 tablespoon of water. Using a pastry brush, lightly brush the top of each mummy with the egg wash.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and the hot dogs are heated through.
  9. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the mummies cool for 2-3 minutes. While still warm, press a small cheese dot onto each mummy in the gap you left earlier. If using mustard, add a tiny dab under the cheese to help it stick.
  10. Serve immediately.

Notes

Keep the dough cold for easier handling. Don’t over-wrap the hot dogs—leave a gap for the eyes. For best results, serve warm. Unbaked mummies can be frozen for up to 2 months.
