These creepy-cute witch finger pretzel bites are a happy accident turned Halloween hit. Made with thick pretzel sticks, green chocolate, and almond sliver nails, they come together in about 15 minutes and are perfect for parties, school treats, or spooky movie nights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bag (about 40-50) thick pretzel sticks (e.g., Snyder’s or store brand)
  • 1 cup melting chocolate or candy melts (green preferred, or white chocolate with green food coloring)
  • 3040 almond slivers (flat and wide, raw or roasted unsalted)
  • Green gel food coloring (if using white chocolate)
  • Red piping gel or red frosting (optional, for ‘blood’ drips)
  • Edible googly eyes (optional)
  • Black sanding sugar (optional, for ‘dirt’ effect)

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Lay out pretzel sticks, almond slivers, and any decorations within arm’s reach.
  2. Place candy melts or white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until completely smooth. If using white chocolate, add a few drops of green gel food coloring after the first interval and stir until evenly colored.
  3. Hold a pretzel stick by one end and dip the other end into the melted chocolate, covering about two-thirds of the pretzel. Let excess chocolate drip back into the bowl.
  4. Place the dipped pretzel on the parchment paper. Repeat with remaining pretzels, working in batches of about 10 at a time.
  5. While the chocolate is still wet, press an almond sliver onto the tip of each dipped pretzel, pointed end outward, to create a fingernail. Use tweezers or chopsticks to avoid messy fingers.
  6. Use the back of a knife or a toothpick to gently draw horizontal lines across the chocolate-coated part of each pretzel to mimic knuckle creases.
  7. If desired, add red piping gel at the base of the chocolate for ‘blood’ drips, or add edible googly eyes for extra creepiness.
  8. Let the pretzels sit at room temperature until the chocolate is completely firm, about 20-30 minutes. For faster setting, refrigerate for 10 minutes.

Notes

Use thick pretzel sticks for the best witch finger shape. Don’t overheat the chocolate or it will seize. Work in small batches to prevent chocolate from setting before adding almonds. For dairy-free, use Enjoy Life dark chocolate chips. For gluten-free, use gluten-free pretzel sticks. For nut-free, substitute almond slivers with sunflower seeds or dried apricot pieces. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
