This Homemade Toasted White Chocolate Mocha is a rich, nutty upgrade from the standard version, made by toasting white chocolate chips until golden and combining with milk and espresso. It’s quick, easy, and uses simple ingredients for a coffee shop-quality drink at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup (90g) white chocolate chips
  • 1 cup (240ml) milk (whole or 2%)
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) espresso or strong coffee
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • Optional: whipped cream, white chocolate sauce, cinnamon for topping

Instructions

  1. Toast the white chocolate: Place 1/2 cup white chocolate chips in a small, dry saucepan over medium-low heat. Stir constantly with a whisk or silicone spatula for 3-4 minutes until the chips melt and turn a deep honey-gold color. Remove from heat immediately.
  2. Add the milk: Slowly pour 1 cup milk into the pan with the toasted chocolate, whisking constantly. Return to medium-low heat and continue whisking until the chocolate fully melts into the milk, creating a smooth, golden-brown mixture (about 2 minutes).
  3. Add vanilla and salt: Remove pan from heat. Whisk in 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Taste and adjust salt if needed.
  4. Brew your coffee: While the milk mixture heats, brew 1/2 cup espresso or strong coffee using your preferred method.
  5. Combine and serve: Pour hot coffee into a mug. Slowly pour the toasted white chocolate milk over the coffee. Stir gently. Top with whipped cream, a drizzle of white chocolate sauce, or a sprinkle of cinnamon if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

Toast white chocolate over medium-low heat and stir constantly to avoid burning. If chocolate seizes when milk is added, keep whisking over low heat—it will smooth out. For best results, use high-quality white chocolate chips with cocoa butter as the first ingredient.
