This Green Witches Brew Punch is a dramatic, delicious, and surprisingly simple Halloween party drink that creates a spooky dry ice fog effect. It’s the perfect crowd-pleasing beverage that makes you look like a party planning genius without spending all day in the kitchen.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (12 oz) frozen limeade concentrate, thawed
  • 1 can (12 oz) frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed
  • 2 liters lemon-lime soda (like Sprite or 7-Up)
  • 1 liter ginger ale
  • 4 cups cold water
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/2 cup lime juice, freshly squeezed (about 45 limes)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • Neon green food coloring (start with 5-6 drops, up to 10 drops)
  • 23 pounds dry ice
  • Ice ring or large ice cubes (optional: lime slices, plastic spiders for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Make the Ice Ring (Do This the Night Before): Fill a bundt pan or ring mold halfway with water. Arrange lime slices, plastic spiders, or other creepy garnishes in the water. Freeze for 2-3 hours until solid, then add more water to fill the mold completely. Freeze overnight.
  2. Mix the Punch Base (15 Minutes Before Guests Arrive): In your punch bowl, combine the thawed limeade concentrate, thawed lemonade concentrate, and pineapple juice. Whisk until fully incorporated. Add fresh lime juice and sugar, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
  3. Add the Carbonation: Slowly pour in the lemon-lime soda and ginger ale. Stir gently to combine, keeping as much fizz as possible. Add cold water and stir once more.
  4. Add the Color: Add 5-6 drops of neon green food coloring and stir. Continue adding drops until you achieve an electric green color (about 10 drops total).
  5. Add the Ice Ring: Carefully place the ice ring into the punch bowl. If stuck, run the outside under warm water for a few seconds to release it.
  6. Add the Dry Ice (Right Before Serving): Using tongs, carefully place small chunks of dry ice (about the size of golf balls) into the punch bowl. Start with 3-4 pieces. The fog will roll out immediately.
  7. Serve and Enjoy: Ladle the punch into cups, making sure not to scoop up any pieces of dry ice. Add more dry ice chunks every 30-45 minutes to maintain the fog effect.

Notes

Dry ice safety is crucial: never touch dry ice with bare skin, always use tongs or thick gloves, never store in a sealed container, and never let anyone consume solid dry ice. The punch base (without sodas and dry ice) can be made up to 24 hours in advance. For best fog effect, keep all ingredients cold before mixing. The fog lasts about 30-45 minutes per batch of dry ice; add fresh chunks every half hour for longer parties.
