A quick and delicious one-pan meal featuring caramelized honey garlic salmon and tender-crisp asparagus, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each, skin-on or skinless)
  • 1 bunch asparagus (about 1 lb, woody ends trimmed)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Lemon wedges for serving (optional)
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce (low sodium, or tamari/coconut aminos for gluten-free)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  2. Trim woody ends off asparagus. Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, rice vinegar, sesame oil (if using), and red pepper flakes. Taste and adjust sweetness or saltiness as desired.
  4. Place salmon fillets skin-side down in the center of the prepared baking sheet. Arrange asparagus around the salmon in a single layer. Drizzle olive oil over asparagus and season everything with salt and pepper. Pour half of the glaze over the salmon, spreading evenly.
  5. Roast for 12-15 minutes, until salmon is opaque and flakes easily with a fork, and asparagus is tender-crisp. For precise doneness, salmon should reach 125°F for medium-rare or 130°F for medium.
  6. During the last 2 minutes of cooking, brush remaining glaze over the salmon. Let rest on the pan for 2-3 minutes before serving.
  7. Serve immediately with lemon wedges. Spoon pan juices over asparagus if desired.

Notes

Pat salmon dry for best caramelization. Space asparagus in a single layer to avoid steaming. For a spicier version, add extra red pepper flakes or sriracha. Leftovers keep in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; reheat in a skillet with a splash of water or soy sauce.
