A refreshing frozen mango margarita made without a blender, combining sweet mango, tangy lime, and tequila for a perfect summer drink with a slushy texture.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (150g) frozen mango chunks (unsweetened if possible)
  • 2 ounces (60 ml) 100% agave blanco tequila
  • 1 ounce (30 ml) fresh lime juice
  • 1 ounce (30 ml) orange liqueur (Triple Sec or Cointreau) – optional
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) simple syrup (or honey/agave nectar to taste)
  • ½ to 1 cup (120 to 240 ml) ice cubes
  • Coarse salt or Tajín for rimming the glass
  • Lime wedges for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare your glass by running a lime wedge around the rim, then dip it into a plate of coarse salt or Tajín. Set aside.
  2. Place frozen mango chunks into a mixing bowl. Using a fork or potato masher, mash the mango to break into smaller pieces and release juices, aiming for a slushy texture but not a puree (2-3 minutes).
  3. Add tequila, fresh lime juice, and orange liqueur (if using) to the mango mash. Stir gently to combine.
  4. Add simple syrup and ice cubes to the mixture. Stir vigorously for 1-2 minutes until well combined and slushy.
  5. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness by adding more sweetener, lime juice, or a splash of water if needed.
  6. Pour the margarita into the prepared glass and garnish with a lime wedge or small mango slice. Serve immediately.

Notes

Do not over-mash the mango to keep some chunks for texture. Use frozen mango chunks for the best icy slushy effect. Fresh lime juice is essential for bright flavor. Adjust ice quantity to balance chill and dilution. Rim glass with coarse salt or Tajín for added flavor contrast. For a mocktail, omit tequila and orange liqueur and add sparkling water.
