These Easy Cheesy Turkey and Cheese Pinwheels are quick, simple snacks featuring savory turkey and melty cheese wrapped in flaky puff pastry. Perfect for casual get-togethers, lunchboxes, or quick bites.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry or crescent roll dough (thawed if frozen)
  • 8 ounces deli-sliced turkey (preferably smoked)
  • 1 to 1 ½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese (100150 grams)
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs (oregano, basil, thyme blend)
  • Black pepper, freshly ground, to taste
  • 1 beaten egg mixed with 1 tablespoon water (egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Lightly flour work surface and unfold puff pastry or crescent dough. Roll gently into a 12 x 10-inch rectangle.
  3. In a small bowl, combine shredded cheddar, cream cheese (if using), garlic powder, onion powder, dried herbs, and black pepper.
  4. Arrange turkey slices evenly over the dough, leaving a ½-inch border on one long edge.
  5. Spread the cheese mixture evenly over the turkey slices, avoiding the border.
  6. Roll the dough from the long edge with filling into a snug log and pinch the seam to seal.
  7. Slice the log into 12 equal 1-inch thick pieces using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.
  8. Place pinwheels cut side up on the prepared baking sheet, spacing about 1 inch apart.
  9. Brush tops with egg wash for a golden, glossy finish.
  10. Bake for 18 to 22 minutes until puffed and golden brown, checking after 15 minutes to avoid burning.
  11. Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack or serving plate.

Notes

Do not roll the dough too tight to avoid squeezing out filling or dense pinwheels. Keep dough cold but pliable. Use egg wash for a golden crust. If dough gets sticky, dip knife in warm water for cleaner cuts. Baking time may vary by oven.
