This easy cheesy bacon ranch dip is the ultimate game day appetizer. It comes together in 10 minutes with simple ingredients like cream cheese, cheddar, bacon, and ranch seasoning, and it stays perfectly dippable for hours.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 16 oz cream cheese, softened (two blocks)
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 ounce packet ranch seasoning mix
  • 810 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 34 green onions, sliced (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the bacon until crispy. Lay bacon slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake at 400°F for 15-18 minutes, or until deeply golden and crispy. Alternatively, fry in a skillet over medium heat for 8-10 minutes, flipping once. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain and cool. Once cool, crumble into small pieces.
  3. Soften your cream cheese. If you forgot to set it out earlier, unwrap the blocks and microwave them in 10-second bursts until just softened. You want it pliable, not warm and melty.
  4. Mix the base. In your mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, and ranch seasoning packet. Beat with a hand mixer on medium speed until smooth and fluffy — about 2 minutes. If using a spatula, mash and stir until there are no lumps.
  5. Fold in the cheese and most of the bacon. Add 1 3/4 cups of the shredded cheddar (reserve 1/4 cup for the top) and about three-quarters of your crumbled bacon. Stir until everything is evenly distributed.
  6. Transfer to your baking dish. Scrape the mixture into your greased 9×9 dish and spread it into an even layer.
  7. Top with remaining cheese and bacon. Sprinkle the reserved 1/4 cup of cheddar over the top, followed by the remaining bacon crumbles.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes. The dip is ready when it’s bubbly around the edges and golden on top. If the top is browning too fast, tent loosely with foil for the last 5 minutes.
  9. Let it rest for 5 minutes. Sprinkle with sliced green onions just before serving.

Notes

For slow cooker method: Mix everything directly in the slow cooker insert. Cook on low for 2 hours, stirring once halfway through. Switch to warm setting and serve directly from the slow cooker. It stays perfect for hours this way. Don’t overmix the cream cheese to avoid a watery dip. Room temperature ingredients matter for a smooth texture. Cook bacon first and let it cool before adding to prevent greasiness.
