Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 cup cauliflower florets
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced into thin strips
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced into thin strips
  • 2 large carrots, peeled and cut into thin rounds or strips
  • 1 medium cucumber, sliced into half-moons
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved or whole
  • 34 celery sticks, cut into 3-inch pieces
  • 1 cup snap peas, trimmed
  • ¼ cup whole black olives
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Make the ranch dip: In a medium bowl, whisk together sour cream, mayonnaise, and buttermilk until smooth. Add dill, parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and lemon juice. Whisk again. Cover and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes (or up to overnight).
  2. Prep all vegetables: Wash and cut broccoli and cauliflower into bite-sized florets. Slice bell peppers into thin strips. Cut carrots into thin rounds or matchsticks. Slice cucumber into half-moons. Halve cherry tomatoes if large. Cut celery into 3-inch pieces. Trim snap peas.
  3. Arrange the spider web base: Place a small bowl of ranch dip in the center of a large round platter. Arrange bell pepper strips in concentric circles around the bowl, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  4. Fill in the web sections: Working outward from the center, fill each section between the pepper rings with a variety of vegetables. Start with broccoli and cauliflower, then carrots and cucumber, then snap peas and celery, and finally cherry tomatoes and olives on the outer edge.
  5. Create spider web lines: Use remaining bell pepper strips (or thin carrot strips) to create 8-10 spokes radiating from the dip bowl to the edge of the platter. Press gently into the veggies.
  6. Add the spiders: Place whole black olives on the web to resemble spiders. For extra effect, cut some olives in half lengthwise and arrange to look like spider legs.
  7. Final touches: Gently press everything to secure. Fill any gaps with extra veggies. Sprinkle fresh dill over the tray. Serve immediately or cover and refrigerate for up to 4 hours.

Notes

For best results, make the ranch dip a day ahead to let flavors meld. Keep vegetables dry after washing to prevent sogginess. The spider web pattern doesn’t need to be perfect—a slightly messy look is more organic. If using a square platter, arrange the web in a circular pattern in the center.
