This creamy, berry-packed overnight oats recipe turns a kitchen disaster into a cozy morning ritual. With just 5 minutes of prep, you’ll have a delicious, nutritious breakfast waiting for you in the fridge.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (90g) rolled oats
  • 2 tablespoons (24g) chia seeds
  • 1 cup (240ml) milk (any kind)
  • 1/2 cup (120g) Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup (150g) mixed berries (frozen or fresh)
  • 12 tablespoons (15-30ml) maple syrup or honey
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Combine the dry ingredients: In a medium bowl or mason jar, add 1 cup (90g) of rolled oats and 2 tablespoons (24g) of chia seeds. Stir to distribute the chia seeds evenly.
  2. Add the wet ingredients: Pour in 1 cup (240ml) of milk, 1/2 cup (120g) of Greek yogurt, 1-2 tablespoons (15-30ml) of maple syrup or honey, 1 teaspoon (5ml) of vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt.
  3. Stir everything together: Use a spoon or small whisk to mix until well combined. If using a jar, put the lid on and shake vigorously.
  4. Add the berries: Gently fold in 1 cup (150g) of mixed berries. If using frozen berries, do not thaw them first. If using fresh berries, mash them gently with a fork first.
  5. Stir one more time: Give everything a final stir to distribute the berries evenly.
  6. Cover and refrigerate: Seal the jar or container with a tight-fitting lid and refrigerate for at least 6 hours, preferably overnight (8-12 hours).
  7. Stir before serving: In the morning, stir the oats. If too thick, add a splash of milk and stir to loosen.
  8. Add toppings and enjoy: Top with extra fresh berries, a drizzle of maple syrup, granola, nuts, or a dollop of yogurt. Eat cold or let sit at room temperature for 10 minutes.

Notes

For best texture, use rolled oats (not steel-cut or quick oats). Frozen berries break down more overnight, creating a beautiful purple swirl. Add crunchy toppings like granola or nuts in the morning to keep them from getting soggy. This recipe scales well for meal prep and keeps in the fridge for up to 5 days.
