A quick and easy foil packet shrimp recipe featuring garlic butter that locks in flavor and moisture, perfect for a fast, satisfying dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) or prepare your grill to medium-high heat.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the peeled and deveined shrimp with softened butter, minced garlic, lemon juice, chopped parsley, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and black pepper. Toss gently until every shrimp is coated.
  3. Tear off a large piece of heavy-duty aluminum foil, about 12×12 inches (30×30 cm). Lightly brush or spray the foil with olive oil to prevent sticking.
  4. Place the shrimp mixture in the center of the foil. Fold the foil over the shrimp and crimp the edges tightly to seal the packet, ensuring no openings for steam to escape.
  5. Place the foil packet on a baking sheet or directly on the grill grates. Cook for 10-12 minutes until shrimp are pink and opaque with slight firmness when pressed.
  6. Serve immediately, spooning the garlic butter sauce over the shrimp and garnishing with additional fresh parsley or a squeeze of lemon if desired.

Notes

Do not overcook the shrimp to avoid rubbery texture. Use fresh or properly thawed shrimp to prevent excess moisture. Soften butter but do not melt completely before mixing. Seal foil packets tightly to lock in moisture. For grilling, cook over indirect medium-high heat.
