fresh virgin mojito recipe - featured image

A refreshing and easy-to-make non-alcoholic mojito featuring fresh mint, lime, sugar, and sparkling water. Perfect for hot days, family gatherings, and any occasion needing a cool, zesty drink.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 to 12 fresh mint leaves per glass (washed thoroughly)
  • 1 to 2 fresh limes per serving, juiced and sliced
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons granulated sugar per glass (adjust to taste; can substitute honey or agave syrup)
  • 8 ounces (240 ml) sparkling water per glass, chilled
  • Ice cubes or crushed ice
  • Optional: small slice fresh ginger (muddled with mint)
  • Optional: cucumber slices
  • Optional: lime zest

Instructions

  1. Wash mint leaves thoroughly and pat dry. Use about 10-12 leaves per glass. Cut 1 to 2 limes into wedges and juice another half lime.
  2. Place mint leaves and 1-2 teaspoons sugar in a glass. Gently muddle with a muddler or wooden spoon to release oils without shredding leaves.
  3. Add freshly squeezed lime juice and a few lime wedges to the glass. Stir gently to blend sugar and citrus.
  4. Fill the glass nearly full with ice cubes or crushed ice.
  5. Pour chilled sparkling water (about 8 oz) over the ice. Stir lightly to combine without flattening the fizz.
  6. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint and a lime wheel on the rim. Serve immediately.

Notes

[‘Be gentle when muddling mint to avoid bitterness.’, ‘Adjust sugar to taste; start with less and add more if needed.’, ‘Use fresh sparkling water poured just before serving to keep fizz lively.’, ‘Crushed ice chills faster and dilutes quicker; cubed ice keeps drink stronger longer.’, ‘Mint and sugar base can be prepared up to 24 hours ahead; add lime juice and sparkling water just before serving.’, ‘Avoid over-muddling mint to prevent grassy or bitter flavors.’, ‘Fresh lime juice is preferred for best flavor; bottled lime juice can be used with sugar adjustment.’]
