Fresh Peach Basil Iced Tea - featured image

A refreshing iced tea blending fresh peaches and basil with black or green tea, sweetened lightly with honey or sugar. Perfect for summer gatherings and easy to prepare in under 20 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 black or green tea bags
  • 2 large ripe peaches, sliced
  • About 10 small fresh basil leaves, washed and gently bruised
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons honey or sugar, adjust to taste
  • 4 cups (1 liter) filtered water
  • Ice cubes as needed for serving
  • Optional: splash of lemon juice
  • Optional: fresh mint leaves (to swap or mix with basil)

Instructions

  1. Bring 4 cups (1 liter) of filtered water to a rolling boil. Remove from heat and add the 4 tea bags. Let steep for 5 to 7 minutes.
  2. While the tea steeps, place the sliced peaches and basil leaves in a large heatproof pitcher. Use a wooden spoon or muddler to gently mash them together, releasing their juices and oils.
  3. Remove tea bags and stir in 2 to 3 tablespoons of honey or sugar while the tea is still warm. Adjust sweetness as needed.
  4. Pour the hot tea over the muddled peaches and basil in the pitcher. Stir gently to combine. Let cool to room temperature, then cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow flavors to meld.
  5. Serve chilled over ice cubes. Optionally garnish with fresh peach slices or a basil leaf.

Notes

Avoid over-steeping tea to prevent bitterness. Use ripe peaches for best flavor. Lightly bruise basil leaves to release oils without making tea bitter. For clearer tea, strain before chilling. Can substitute frozen peaches if fresh are unavailable. Sweetener can be adjusted or replaced with maple syrup or agave for vegan option.
