A quick and easy air fryer salmon recipe featuring crispy skin and bright lemon flavor, perfect for busy weeknights or entertaining.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets, skin-on, about 6 ounces (170 g) each (fresh or thawed if frozen)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (extra virgin recommended)
  • 1 large lemon, juiced and zested
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon salt (sea salt or kosher salt preferred)
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Fresh herbs such as chopped parsley or dill (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels to help the skin crisp up.
  2. Place salmon in a mixing bowl and toss with olive oil, lemon juice, lemon zest, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3 minutes.
  4. Arrange the salmon fillets skin-side down in the air fryer basket, ensuring they do not overlap.
  5. Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 7-9 minutes depending on thickness, until salmon is opaque and flakes easily with a fork and skin is golden and crispy.
  6. Carefully remove the fillets using tongs, garnish with fresh herbs and an extra squeeze of lemon if desired, and serve immediately.

Notes

Patting the salmon dry and preheating the air fryer are key to achieving crispy skin. Avoid flipping the salmon during cooking unless your air fryer requires it. Adjust cooking time by 1-2 minutes for fillets thicker than 1 inch. If no air fryer is available, bake at 425°F for 12-15 minutes and broil for 1-2 minutes to crisp skin. Let salmon rest for a couple of minutes after cooking to lock in juices.
