  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
  • 2 stalks green onions, thinly sliced (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken pieces dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture and season with salt and pepper.
  2. Place cornstarch in a large mixing bowl. Add chicken pieces and toss until evenly coated.
  3. Drizzle olive oil over the coated chicken and toss again to lightly coat.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 5 minutes.
  5. Arrange chicken pieces in a single layer in the air fryer basket, avoiding overcrowding. Cook for 10 minutes, shaking the basket or flipping chicken halfway through at 5 minutes, until golden, crispy, and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  6. While the chicken cooks, whisk together honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, and sesame oil in a small bowl to make the glaze.
  7. Transfer cooked chicken to a large bowl and pour the glaze over it. Toss gently to coat every piece evenly.
  8. Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions on top before serving.

Notes

Pat chicken dry before coating to ensure crispiness. Use cornstarch instead of flour for a lighter crust. Lightly coat chicken with oil before air frying. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket for even cooking. Flip chicken halfway through cooking. Make glaze fresh and add a splash of water if too thick. For gluten-free, use tamari or coconut aminos and arrowroot powder instead of cornstarch. Reheat leftovers in air fryer at 350°F for 3-5 minutes to retain crispiness.
