A quick and easy recipe for crispy Brussels sprouts cooked in an air fryer and drizzled with a tangy balsamic glaze. Perfect as a side dish or appetizer that even picky eaters will love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (450 grams) Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • Optional garnish: toasted pine nuts or shaved Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Rinse about 1 pound (450 grams) of Brussels sprouts under cold water, trim the stem ends, and halve them lengthwise. Pat dry with a kitchen towel.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the halved sprouts with 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, 1 teaspoon salt, ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, and ½ teaspoon garlic powder if using. Toss until evenly coated.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and let it run empty for 3 minutes.
  4. Place the sprouts in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook for 12-15 minutes, shaking or stirring halfway through for even browning, until golden edges and tender center.
  5. While the sprouts cook, pour ¼ cup (60 ml) balsamic vinegar and 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup into a small saucepan. Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat, then reduce to low and simmer for 5-7 minutes until thickened slightly.
  6. Transfer the cooked sprouts to a serving bowl and drizzle the balsamic glaze over the top. Toss gently to coat. Sprinkle with toasted pine nuts or shaved Parmesan if desired.

Notes

Pat Brussels sprouts dry before oiling to ensure crispiness. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to avoid steaming. Shake or stir halfway through cooking for even browning. Add balsamic glaze just before serving to keep sprouts crispy. For extra crispiness, cook an additional 2-3 minutes at 400°F (205°C), watching closely to prevent burning.
